_”My school“ – Presented by Students of the 8b_
Within English class, grade 8 students have dealt with the topic „High schools in Germany and high schools in America“. In this context, they have composed portraits of their own school, the Voltaire High School, in order to present it to English speaking visitors. Especially nice texts have been chosen for the new homepage of the school.

Facts of My School (Josina Wronka)
The name of my school is Voltaire Comprehensive School Potsdam. The school building is green. The Voltaire School has 700 students and 62 teachers. The headmistress is Mrs. Meyhöfer. My school is in the Linden street 32-33 in Potsdam.
The profiles of my school are communication and new media and foreign languages, for example Spanish, French, Latin and English.
The Voltaire School starts at 8:15 a.m.
I like the Voltaire School because there are nice teachers and students. My favorite subjects are German, P.E., history, English and Spanish.
The Voltaire school is an all-day school. We have many clubs (drama club, photo club, sports club and art club) and a learning workshop where we can do our homework.
Our school has a very big gym and also a sports ground belongs to it. On the sports ground, there is a 250m track. I like it very much.
Our schoolyard is enormous and has a playground for the 5th, 6th and 7th classes. For the other students, there are a lot of banks. On the schoolyard there is the cafeteria. We can eat a delicious lunch there. In our cafeteria we can also buy sweets and salad.
At our school we are able to graduate after 12 or 13 years of schooling (or some more years for the students who like school very, very much ;-)).
At my school we expect respect and tolerance from each other.

My school (Fabian van Beek)
My school is the Voltaire school in Potsdam, Germany. The Voltaire school was named after the French poet Voltaire. He once said: “Tolerance is the most important thing in the world.” and that's the motto of my school.
It's a very nice school with regular subjects like German, Maths and English of course! There are also a lot of electives like Spanish, French and Latin. And there are a lot of clubs like sports club, mediation club and art club.
The Voltaire school has about 700 pupils and about 60 teachers.
We have a big playground and a nice turquoise building. The hallways are decorated with beautiful art projects made by the pupils of our school.
You can have warm meals in the cafeteria during lunch break and you can also buy snacks there.
I hope you have got an impression of my school and maybe you can take a look for yourself one day.

My School (Marie Harrison)

I go to the Voltaire School in Potsdam. You can find it easily because it is large and green. There are about seven hundred students at the school.
The Voltaire School has subjects like German, English, history, science, math, and there are even more subjects than that. We have PE class in the gym and on the sports ground. There are also electives like LER and religion and also different languages: Spanish, French and Latin.
At lunch time, we go to the cafeteria. We can also go to the school grounds or the younger students can play on the playground. Every year, there is a class trip for all grades. And there are many other cool school activities, like the sports day.
The after school clubs are: art club, photography club, computer club, music club, and so on. There is also a learning workshop. We can do our homework in peace there and get help from a teacher. I think the after school clubs are good for learning and having fun.
It's a really cool school with fun activities. I hope you('ll) like it as much as I do.
Thank you for reading.

The Voltaire School (Steffen Haubner)
I'm at the Voltaire school. The address of my school is Lindenstr. 32/33 in Potsdam, the capital of Brandenburg. Our headteacher's name is Mrs. Meyhöfer.
Our school day starts at 8:15 a.m. and usually ends at 1:55 p.m. but we also have long school days until 3:30 p.m.
We are approximately 700 students at our school. We have grades 5 to 13. That means we have about 27 classes.
There are many different places on our schoolyard, for example the gym, the cafeteria and the playground.
There are also many subjects, for example Maths, English, German, Geography, History, Sports, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Spanish, Latin and French are electives.
For my school day I need pens, a pencil-case, folders, books, paper and of course my brain.
There is also a lunch break of half an hour every day from 11:50 a.m until 12:20 p.m. During this break we can eat a warm meal.
In the afternoon the school offers different clubs... for example sports clubs, a media club, a photography club or the learning workshop. In the learning workshop you can study German or English or you can do your homework.
